The ice is broken up into pieces which sink below the water surface. The oil becomes sepd. from the pieces by the water current and is collected. The ice sinking arrangement is driven through the oil covered ice field. The oil which is sepd. by the water stream, panes through openings or holes to the collection chamber. On raising the arrangement, the openings in the upper part close by the operation of the valves, the collected oil floating on the water which remains in the arrangement. |
