PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a levitation electromagnet and to decrease heat generation by so providing a permanent magnet at the stationary side where a moving element passes that a repelling force is acted at a position where the element is elongated with respect to the electromagnet and an attracting force is acted at a position where the element is contracted. CONSTITUTION:A moving element 1 is levitated by the attracting forces of magnetic levitation electromagnets 2, 3, and horizontally moved by the propulsive force of a linear motor 4. Balance electromagnets 6, 7 have forces for attracting the element 1 in gravity direction. A stationary base 8 is provided under the stroke of the element 1, and so inclined that the center of the stroke become a valley. Permanent magnets 9, 10 secured to slopes are so attached that the poles become reverse polarities, and so disposed that the magnet 9 secured to a moment permanent magnet 11 attached to the end of the element 1 repels and the magnet 10 secured thereto is attracted.
