PURPOSE:To efficiently and continuously search for a moving body by providing a stage wherein the size of the object body is measured, a stage wherein a next-time gravity center position is estimated from the last position and current position of the center of gravity of the object body, etc. CONSTITUTION:The dimensions XW and YW of the object body are measured and the next-time position Gii of the center of gravity of the object body is estimated from the last position G0 and current position Gi of the center of gravity of object body. Then retrieval is performed spirally from the found position as a start point S at intervals (a) a little smaller than the measured size of the object body to detect the object body. Consequently, the moving body can be detected by less processing at a higher speed as compared with a method which retrieves the entire screen. Further, the faster processing is secured by employing a rectangular spiral as the spiral in this case. The time required to position components by a robot, etc., is therefore shortened and the operation efficiency is improved.
