PURPOSE:To make it possible to fill safely and automatically an organic peroxide to thereby allow the title polymerization to be carried out with labor saving, by using as a polymerization initiator an emulsion of an organic peroxide in which a partially saponified PVAc is employed as an emulsion stabilizer. CONSTITUTION:In a process for industrially producing, for examples, PS, ABS resins, polyacryric esters, etc., by polymerization of a vinyl monomer, an emulsion of an organic peroxide, for example, t-butyl peroxybenzoate, in which a partially saponified PVAc having a degree of saponification of 5-70mol.% is employed as an emulsion stabilizer, is used as a polymerization initiator. Thus the organic peroxide as a polymerization initiator can be safely and automatically filled, which is highly effective in saving labor. Also, since the emulsion does not affect the polymerization system, the emulsion has such an excellent property that the physical properties of the resulting polymer are invariable.
