PURPOSE:To provide sufficiently high activation energy for crystallization and to maintain stability of a recording state by adding Ir, Au or the mixture composed thereof to foundation glass which is a base material. CONSTITUTION:Ir, Au or the mixture composed thereof is added to the foundation glass which contains Si, Sn and Te having an eutectic compsn. and further, contg. oxygen in some cases. This Ir, Au or mixture composed thereof acts as the nucleus for crystallization of Te to accelerate the crystallization of Te and to shorten the erasing time of recording. The activation energy for crystallization is sufficiently high and the stability of the recording state is maintained even if metallic elements are added to the foundation glass. The phase change type recording film material for the rewritable optical memory which is stable in the recording state and is short in the erasing time of recording is, therefore, obtd. |
