PURPOSE:To produce a material for silver-metal oxide base contacts having excellent contact characteristics by precipitating Ag and oxides of Sb, Sn, Mn, In, and Cd from an aq. soln., subjecting the precipitate to a heat treatment after drying and further to molding and sintering. CONSTITUTION:The concn. of the hydrogen ions of the aq. soln. contg. the Ag ions as well as the Sb, Sn, Mn, In, and Cd ions and if necessary, contg. >=1 kinds of Fe, Ni and Co ions is adjusted to precipitate the Ag as well as the oxide and hydroxide of the above-mentioned metals simultaneously or successively. The precipitate formed in such a manner is subjected to the heat treatment after drying to form a power mixture composed of Ag and the oxides of the above-mentioned metals. This powder mixture is thereafter sintered after molding. The material for silver-metal oxide base contacts which consists essentially of the Ag, contains 5-30% in total 0.05-6wt.% Sb oxide, 0.05-15% Sn oxide, 0.05-5% Mn oxide, 0.05-5% In oxide, and 0.05-5% Cd oxide and is finely and uniformly dispersed with the above-mentioned oxides in the Ag matrix without being flocculated is thereby obtd. |
