PURPOSE:To prevent an evaporation while recording is not conducted, by providing a magnetic body capable of opening and closing an air passage communicating with a recording liquid containing part of a cartridge tank, and closing the air passage by operating the magnetic body through a magnetic force generated by a magnet when a carriage is led to a home position. CONSTITUTION:A spherical body 10 comprises a sphere 10A of a magnetic material at the central part thereof and a covering material 10B such as a synthetic resin which concentrically surrounds the periphery of the sphere 10A to prevent the sphere 10A from rusting or the like. The spherical body 10 is maintained between a communicating hole 9 and a spherical body holder 11, with a play therearound. When a magnet piece 12 as a magnetic force-generating means comes externally into the proximity to a cartridge 1, the spherical body 10 is attracted by a magnetic force generated by the magnet piece 12 to close the communicating hole 9. When the magnetic piece 12 does not come into proximity to the cartridge 1, the spherical body 10 is returned onto the holder 11 under its own weight, thereby opening the communicating hole 9. |
