PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a scale without lowering a productivity by applying a specified vitreous heat resisting paint on a heating steel material and removing a painted film after cooling into a temp. range not to generate any scale. CONSTITUTION:The vitreous heat resisting paint having 350-600 deg.C glass transition temp., a fluid point of the steel material temp. + (0-200) deg.C is applied on the heating steel material. After cooling the temp. range without generating any scale, the formed pointed film is removed by pickling, etc. Otherwise, after applying the vitreous heat resisting paint and cooling, the painted film is fractured by rapid cooling, and after cooling, the painted film is removed by the pickling, etc. In this way, the generation of oxide scale of the heating steel material is prevented by simple means and the products having excellent surface properties are obtained.
