PURPOSE:To preheat a rolling roll, to prevent the generation of cracks and to improve quality and productivity by passing through a rolling roll by heating a metal having excellent workability in cold or warm treatment connected to both ends of a high silicon steel plate. CONSTITUTION:A leader strip 6 longer than both tension reels 1A, 1B and having the same plate thickness as that of a steel plate is connected to both ends of a steel plate 5. The steel plate 5 joining the leader strip 6 is preheated by a preheating means 7 and passed to preheat a roll 3. With this method, rolling crack is prevented and magnetic characteristic can be improved.
