PURPOSE:To automatize a conversion between a debug program and an application program by generating and latching a pulse at the time of the attaching or the detaching of a cable, and deciding the state of a latch circuit within an interrupt handling caused by the said pulse. CONSTITUTION:When a debug is performed, the pins Q1 and Q2 of a connector 6 are short-circuited through a shortcircuit line 8 by connecting the cable 3 to a target system 2. Then, a one shot pulse generation circuit 4 generates a one shot pulse P1. At the same time that the pulse P1 resets a latch circuit 5, the pulse P1 is sent to the interrupt input of a CPU through an OR circuit 9. In the interrupt handling routine cause by this, the state of the circuit 5 is checked, and it is decided to be a connection time when the output of it is L1. Afterwards, the circuit 5 is reset, and a task is made to convert from the application program to the debug program by starting the same processing routine as that of the case that a RUN command by a communication interruption, is inputted.
