PURPOSE:To obtain the titled ulcer having high safety containing an active ingredient extracted from a plant of the family Iridaceae. CONSTITUTION:Rhizome of plant of the genus Iris of the family Iridaceae is thinly cut, dried and extracted with an alcohol such as methanol while stirring at 10-80 deg.C give essence. The essence is suspended in water, mixed with an ether (e.g. ethyl ether) and then ether layer is removed to give an ether-insoluble fraction. The water layer is mixed with a slightly soluble alcohol (e.g. n-butanol) and the alcohol layer is partitioned and extracted to give the active ingredient of anti-peptic ulcer agent (solubility: readily soluble in methanol and slightly soluble in ethyl ether; total nitrogen amount: <=5.0wt.% color reaction: positive in anthrone sulfuric acid reaction, Liebermann reaction and diazo reaction). Powder, tablet, capsule and solution are preferably as the dosage form. A dose is preferably 1,000mg/kg/day and administered dividedly about three times daily. |
