PURPOSE:To minimize a rim formed simultaneously with and in the vicinity of an information pit, reduce signal noise, shorten the pitch of pits and enhance recording density, by incorporating a predetermined resin composition as a second component of an optical recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A crosslinkable resin composition having a thermal decomposition starting temperature T in the range of T1-50 deg.C<=T<=T1+100 deg.C, where T1 is the thermal decomposition starting temperature of an organic coloring matter, is incorporated as a second component of an optical recording layer. Figure shows a construction that a recording layer 13 comprising the coloring matter is provided on a substrate 12. Recording and reproduction are performed by focusing laser light 14 to a spot 0.8-1.5mum in size on the recording layer. Though the laser light 14 for recording and reproduction may be projected from the side of the recording layer 13, the light is preferably projected from the side of the substrate 12 where the substrate 12 is formed of a transparent material, whereby effects of contamination or foreign matter can be generally reduced. |
