PURPOSE:To enable one worker to execute butt connecting work of optical fibers simply by butting the end surfaces of optical fibers and adjusting the optical axes of these optical fibers while observing the reduction of dispersed light of visible light projected from the terminal end of one optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:When red visible light is made incident from a He-Ne laser light source to an optical connector 4 connected to the leading end of one optical fiber 1, said visible light is dispersed from the terminal end 10 of the optical fiber 1. A strand is extended from the terminal end 10 of the optical fiber 1. The optical fiber 1 is inserted into a V-shaped groove connector 3 and a pressing board 31 is pressed. A transparent material is used for the pressing boards 31-33 of the V-shaped groove connector 3 to look the insides clearly. While butting the leading end of the strand of the optical fiber 1 temporally to the leading end 11 of the strand of the other optical fiber 2 and observing the red dispersed light of He-Ne laser at the butting position of the optical fibers, screws 8 of the pressing boards 32, 33 of the V-shaped groove connector are adjusted by a driver to butt the end surfaces of the optical fibers and adjust the optical axes of the optical fibers. The adjustment is continued until the red dispersed light disappears or is minimized. |
