PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF WATER SOLUBLE DIAZO COMPOUNDS

New water-sol. diazo cpds. of formula (I) [3- or 4-sulfo; Z and Y gps. on D' and/or D"; D', D"=phenyl or naphthyl opt. contg. 1 or 2 substituents chosen from SO3H, Cl, Br, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy; Z=SO2CH2CH2X, NRSO2CH2CH2X, CH2SO2CH2CH2X, SO2CH=CH2, NRSO2CH=CH2, CH2SO2CH=CH2; R=C1-4 alkyl; X=Cl, acetyloxy, (thio) sulphate, phosphato; Y=substd. aminohalo-s-triazinylamino residue; m=0,1; n=1,2; m+n=2 are prepd. (I) are used as dyestuffs. They are fibre- reactive and are esp. useful for dyeing and printing wool and cotton and also paper, leather, polyamides and polyurethans, giving strong, fast results.
