PURPOSE:To attain a connection to a general extension subscriber with the simple operation of a direct telephone extension subscriber by providing in the main storage device of an automatic private branch exchange a storage circuit storing discrimination information for discriminating the case of calling a person except for the subscriber of a direct telephone number. CONSTITUTION:The storage circuit storing discrimination information corresponding to the extension subscriber who is previously decided to be a direct telephone extension is provided in the main storage device 10. For connecting a direct telephone extension 1 not to the extension 2 of the direct telephone number, but to a general extension 3, a handset is picked up while a previously decided function key on the telephone set of the extension 1, a + mark for example, is depressed, whereby a discriminating signal is transmitted. A central controller 9 stores the signal as discrimination information in the storage circuit provided in the device 10. If the extension 1 dials the extension number of the extension 3, the extension 1 is connected with the extension 3 through an extension circuit 4, a switch 7 and an extension circuit 6 with the control of the circuit 4, whereby the connection with the general subscriber can be executed.
