PURPOSE:To provide the titled fiber having particular cross-section, composed of a thermoplastic synthetic polymer, having high slip resistance and bulkiness and giving scrooping feeling. CONSTITUTION:The objective thermoplastic synthetic fiber has a cross-section consisting of a circular arc A having nearly uniform thickness and a linear part B1 having nearly uniform thickness or a curved part having circular curvature and nearly uniform thickness, wherein both ends of the circular arc A are connected with each other via the linear part or the curved part. In the above cross-section, the area of the hollow part is preferably 10-45% of the whole area encircled with the outer circumference. The fiber gives a carpet having high slip resistance and excellent feeling and bulkiness, etc.
