<p>PURPOSE:To minimize a light loss along with a smaller size and lighter weight, by arranging a polarizer, a Pockels element, a 1/4 wavelength plate and an analyzer so as to parallel the direction of an incident light via an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A polarizer 4, a Pockels element 5, a 1/4 wavelength plate 6 and an analyzer 7 are arranged in alignment so as to parallel the direction of incidence from a light source 1 via an optical fiber 2a. A reflection mirror 8 and a dummy glass 9 are arranged between an analyzer 7 and a microlens 3b. Light from a light source 1 is turned to a parallel light with a microlens 3a via the optical fiber 2a and then, to a linearly polarized wave with a polarizer 4 to enter the Pockels element 5. When the linearly polarized wave is set to be at 45 deg. to two main axes of the element 5, an emission light from the element 5 is converted to an elliptically polarized wave, which is converted into the intensity of light with the analyzer 9 through the 1/4 wavelength plate 6. Moreover, the light reflected on the reflection mirror 8 is introduced to a light receiver 10 via the dummy glass 9, the microlens 3b and an optical fiber 2b for signal processing.</p> |
