PURPOSE:To prevent a malfunction in case of acceleration caused by vibration and impact, etc., by stopping the driving of a recording medium when the output detecting vibration and impact which are given to a head is larger than a previously specified threshold. CONSTITUTION:Acceleration sensors 4-6 detect the acceleration of the whole equipment including the recording medium 8 and the head 11 in terms of three dimensional directions X-Z which are perpendicular to one another. A control circuit 7 inputs information from respective switches and the sensors 4-6 and controls the respective parts of the device based on the inputted information. Namely, when only signal from the acceleration sensor 6 exceeds a specified value while the device normally actuates in a reproducing state, the head 11 is made to be reserved by a head driver 12 with making a servo circuit 10 actuate so as to prevent the breakage of the head 11 or the medium 8. When the signals from the acceleration sensors 4-6 exceed the specified value during the normal actuation in the reproducing state, the actuation of the servo circuit 10 and also the driving of the medium 8 are stopped in addition to the save of the head 11.
