摘要 PURPOSE:To enable reduction in electric power and high-density recording by providing a means for heating locally a recording medium past a magnet and clamping the signal in the state corresponding to the min. state of the heating means in the stage of controlling the heating means with a signal. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape 1 has a CrO2 film of, for example, the lowest possible Curie point, and a stationary magnet 2 magnetizes the tape in one direction. A signal 4 is subjected to processing 5 such as nonlinear compensation and modulates a laser 6. A beam 8 falls onto the film plane of the tape through a lens 7. A magnetic field of the polarity reversed from the polarity of the magnet 2 is applied by a magnet 3 on the tape from the back of the tape or from the same side of the beam. Recording magnetization is thus accomplished roughly between Mm-0--Mn when the max. magnetization of the medium is designated as Mn, and the read-out output of 2-3 times of the output when there is no magnet 3 is obtd. The signal 4 is further inputted to a clamping circuit 10 after processing 5 and the signal is clamped at roughly the zero point of the laser intensity, by which the laser 6 is driven and the electric power is reduced. The signal mixing is prevented by using a periodic inverter 15.
