PURPOSE:To form a coated film having excellent smoothness and gloss at a high speed by using a low-viscosity coating compd. by conveying a substrate on which the magnetic coating compd. is coated in contact with a rotary drum subjected to mirror finishing and executing magnetic field orientation and electron ray projection during this time. CONSTITUTION:The rotary drum 10 having the surface subjected to the mirror finishing is prepd. in an orienting magnet 2. The drum 10 is freely rotatably provided so as to enclose a magnetic pole 12 and a projection window 13 is formed to a magnetically shielded 18 magnetic pole 13. The magnetic coating compd. 9 in a container 8 is coated by a roll coater on the surface of the substrate 1 in the above-mentioned constitution and is passed through the magnetic field between the magnetic poles 12 and 13, by which the magnetic field orientation is executed; in addition, the electron rays from an electron ray projection device 3 are projected thereto to cure the coating compd. The coating compd. is, therefore, cured with the good orientation characteristic at a high speed by using the low-viscosity coating compd.; in addition, the coated film having the excellent smoothness and gloss is formed by the drum subjected to the mirror finishing.
