The invention relates to a cylindrical injection device with a medicament depot, for example a syringe barrel or a cartridge ampoule, with a device for metering of the medicament, especially insulin, and means for drawing-up of the medicament. This device is an aid for diabetics, in particular, for the supply of insulin by self-injection. The front and rear parts are connected by a coupling sleeve which simultaneously serves to adjust the piston stroke for metering of two insulin units; a piston rod is guided in the central bore of the sleeve. A retaining sleeve with a flange and bores, in which balls are inserted, is arranged on the piston rod. A push tube engages around the piston rod and the retaining sleeve in the region of the balls with a conical bore and has an actuation knob at its rear end. A connecting rod with a gripping element is arranged in the piston rod. The metering distance for two insulin units is fixed by the front stop and the rear stop.
