PURPOSE:To prevent floating of a canvas, by a method wherein, during closing of a canvas assembly, the engaging member, positioned on the slide member, of a control cable is engaged with a different engaging member situated to the front end part of the canvas assembly. CONSTITUTION:With a cable 20 controlled, a slide member 30 and a front panel 11 are slide in the longitudinal direction of a car body along a guide rail 4. Along with the slide, a top bow 16 on the engaging side is slid in the longitudinal direction of a car body, and a top bow 15 on the moving side is slid in the vertical direction of the car body through a like member 17. As a result, a canvas assembly 10 is selected into a state in that a canvas 12 is stretched to close an opening part 3 of a roof 2 and a state in that the canvas 12 is folded to open the opening part 3. In this case, an engaging member 35 is selected in the rear of a body part 31 of the slide member 30. A different engaging member 36 engageable with the engaging member 35 is formed to the side of the link member 17 positioned facing the engaging member 36.
