PURPOSE:To highly accurately control the movement of movable platen at all times by a method wherein the movable platen is released from the restraint of a sped restraining means on the basis of a mold closure signal outputted from a mold closed state detecting means under the restraint of the speed of the movable platen by means of said speed restraining means. CONSTITUTION:During the time that an initial speed restraining signal SH is inputted, a hydraulic circuit 22 limits the flowing-in and -out speeds of hydraulic oil for a mold clamping cylinder 12 to a constant speed. Thus, the moving speed of a movable platen 20 is restrained to the low present speed. When the output of a mold closure signal SK from a pressure switch 26 is judged, the generation of said initial speed restraining signal SH is released. A manual- automatic changing-over switch turns into an automatic state, resulting in conforming a command signal SC, which is supplied to the hydraulic circuit 22, to a predetermined program so as to changingly control in response to the counted of a reversible counter 36. Thus, the moving speed of the movable platen 20 can be highly accurately controlled.
