A strain-relief device for cables is described, which consists of a baseplate (10) and of a mating plate (15), the baseplate (10) being capable of rotation relative to the mating plate (15) about an axis which is at right angles to a bearing surface (17). The cable is clamped in reversibly by twisting through 90 degrees. This clamping can be released, in principle non-destructively, under specific preconditions, but also destructively (Figure). <IMAGE>
