PURPOSE:To surely photograph without missing a shutter release opportunity even if an object is moved at a high speed, by setting a preliminarily set distance not as a point but as a zone having a certain width. CONSTITUTION:The operation of a camera is started when a changeover switch 41 is switched to the zone designating mode and a release button is depressed to turn on a switch S1. The camera-to-subject distance is set by a zone designating means 42 and is inputted to a system controller 40. The system controller 40 automatically sets a zone in consideration of the object depth for the inputted camera-to-subject distance in accordance with a preliminarily stored program. Next, it is discriminated whether a switch S2 is turned on or not; and if it is turned on, a lens is moved in accordance with this set distance by a motor 30. The lens is moved to the set position by the servo control based on the value set by the zone designating means 42 and the output value of a potentiometer 33 indicating the lens position. |
