PURPOSE:To improve accelerating performance and reduce fuel consumption by automatically selecting a gear change point corresponding to the detected acceleration of a vehicle from among plural gear change points and carrying out up shift earlier when accelerating traveling on a flat road. CONSTITUTION:In an automatic transmission control device 4, plural gear change points the value of each of which is lower the larger the acceleration is, are provided as at least a first gear change point for each gear change stage in accordance with the acceleration of a vehicle. And, the acceleration of the vehicle is detected from the signal of a revolution sensor 3 and a gear change point corresponding to the detected acceleration is automatically selected from the plural gear change points, to control a transmission 6 via a solenoid valve 5. Thus, up shift is carried out earlier when acceleratingly traveling on a flat road, to improve acceleration while reducing fuel consumption. On the other hand, when acceleration is small at the time of climbing a slope, up shift is restrained from being readily carried out, effectively utilizing the output of an engine. |
