PURPOSE:To discriminate the photosensitive body exchanging timing before the picture quality becomes inferior, by writing data necessary for managing the photosensitive body in the outside range of the photosensitive body in a lateral direction and simultaneously, providing a means which selectively transfers the data to transfer paper. CONSTITUTION:In the managing data writing area 1b of a photosensitive belt 1, data necessary for managing the exchange of the photosensitive body is written with a substance which makes the photosensitive body non- photosensitive. When normal copies are obtained with this device, transfer paper is fed to the location 9 within an area L by controlling the electrification width of an electrifying charger 3 to the area L. When the life of the photosensitive body is checked, the full width extent (L+l) of the belt 1 is made chargeable and the transfer paper is fed to the area including the (l). Therefore, the photosensitive body is electrified uniformly over the full width and,when the whole surface of the photosensitive body is erased by means of an eraser 6, the data written with the substance which makes the photosensitive body non- photosensitive is not erased, but developed by a developing device 5 and transferred to the transfer paper. |
