PURPOSE:To detect breakdown fault of power transmission cable, by detecting the fact that the voltage at the output terminal of a solar battery exceeds a specified value and the fact that the voltage at the input terminal of a load is less than a specified value, and judging the states of the detected voltage. CONSTITUTION:The fact that the voltage at the output terminal of a solar battery 1 exceeds a specified value Vo by an overvoltage detector 5. The fact that the voltage at the input terminal of a load 2 is less than a specified value Vu is detected by an undervoltage detector 6. The operating states of the overvoltage detector 5 and the undervoltage detector 6 are judged. The fact that both voltage detectors 5 and 6 are operated is judged with a state detecting circuit 7. The occurrence of breakdown fault (c) in a power transmission cable 3 is detected with a fault detecting circuit 8. Thus the breakdown fault in the power transmission cable 3 is clearly detected quickly.
