S-Z SLOT TYPE OPTICAL FIBER CABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an S-Z slot (S twists and Z twists are alternately repeated) optical fiber cable with which the deterioration of transmission characteristics hardly occurs even if coated optical fiber ribbons are housed in these slots. SOLUTION: The transverse direction of the coated optical fiber ribbons 20 in the rotating parts R of the slot grooves 22 of the S-Z slot is determined as a reference. The coated optical fiber ribbons 20 are housed in the slot grooves 22 while the coated optical fiber ribbons 20 are twisted back in such a manner that the transverse direction of the coated optical fiber ribbons 20 is kept always approximately parallel with the transverse direction of the coated optical fiber ribbons 20 in the rotating parts R from the inverting parts (T) of the slot grooves 22 to the other inverting parts (T), by which the S-Z slot type optical fiber cable is constituted.
