Positioning unit (P) for a tool (W), especially a drill, has a control device (K) for input and storage of one or more positions to be adapted by the positioning unit and a sensor unit for measuring at least a spatial separation in a first direction (X). The control unit outputs a measurement value or signal processed by it. The positioning unit is attached or can be attached to the tool. The invention also relates to a corresponding drill with an inventive positioning unit.
