PURPOSE:To improve the roll pickup resistance of the resulting calcined body and to prolong the life of a roll by using prescribed percentages of a carbonaceous material contg. Al2O3, SiO2 or the like as ashes and a prescribed ceramic material. CONSTITUTION:The titled roll has a roll shaft made of a calcined body consisting of 5-40% (expressed in terms of carbon) carbonaceous material and the balance ceramics such as oxide, nitride or carbide. The carbonaceous material contains a ceramic material such as Al2O3 or SiO2 as ashes. The roll supports and transfer a material to be heat treated in a heat treatment furnace kept at a high temp. Since the roll contains the carbonaceous material in the ceramics, it has superior roll pickup resistance and wear resistance. |
