Furanone derivatives of formula (I) <CHEM> wherein R1 is a C8-C24 straight or branched chain monovalent hydrocarbon radical containing a total of 0-6 double and triple bonds; or a group of the formula <CHEM> where n is 0 or 1 and M is -CHO or CH2OH; or R-alk-where alk is a C2-C12 straight or branched chain monovalent hydrocarbon radical containing 0-2 double and triple bonds and R is naphthalenyloxy or benzylphenoxy, inhibit phosphalipidase A2 and are useful antiinflammatory and antiallergy agents. |
