The invention relates to an anti-skid device for, in particular, motor vehicle wheels with pneumatic tyres, having an auxiliary wheel 2 which is arranged next to the vehicle wheel 1 on its wheel axle 19 and has a pneumatic tyre 8 which is equipped with an anti-skid tread 7 and can be pressed against the ground in the contact region of the vehicle wheel 1 and, where necessary, activated and deactivated again by the driver and/or automatically. At the same time as ground contact takes place, the side wall 4 of the auxiliary wheel 2 is placed in frictional engagement with the assigned side wall 3 of the vehicle wheel 1 so that as a result the auxiliary wheel 2 is driven by the vehicle wheel 1 and more or less performs the function of driving the vehicle, depending on the ground pressure. The tyre 8 of the auxiliary wheel is supported via a roller bearing 11 on a supporting ring 10 which is seated by means of rubber springs 14 in an elastically movable fashion on supports 16 which are secured to the axle tube 19 of the vehicle 1 by means of a hub 17. The auxiliary wheel 2 is activated under remote control by means of a hydraulically or pneumatically driven servomotor (actuator element 5).
