摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal orientation of a uniform monodomain, and to obtain a memory property of a uniform and high contrast by forming an oriented film on one substrate and executing a horizontal orientation forming, and subsequently, forming a vertical oriented film on the oriented film, and thereafter, executing a rubbing processing in the direction being different from said direction. CONSTITUTION:On a substrate 1, an electrode pattern 5 is formed, and thereafter, a high polymer film material is applied thereon, and by heating and hardening it, an oriented film 6 is formed. Subsequently, on the oriented film 6, a rubbing roller 7 whose outside peripheral surface has been covered with cotton cloth, etc., is rotated and moved, rubbing is executed in one direction and a horizontal orientation processing is performed. Also, a vertical oriented film 8 is formed on the oriented film, and thereafter, a rubbing processing is performed in a second rubbing direction 9 being different from a first rubbing direction 4. A cell is generated by opposing two pieces of substrates, interposing a spacer between them, and sticking them with a sealing material, and a ferroelectric liquid crystal is injected into the cell. In this way, a liquid crystal orientation of a uniform monodomain is obtained easily, and also, the display recognizability as a display element is improved.</p>
