The invention particularly relates to a method for converting a monostable solenoid valve into a bistable solenoid valve. According to the method of the invention, an electromagnetic force is created, making it possible to move the said core plunger 4 away from the stable position which it occupies, the core plunger 4 is subjected, during at least part of its displacement, to at least one force which is complementary to the said electromagnetic force, the production of the electromagnetic force is stopped, and the said core plunger 4 is held in the said other stable position under the action of at least the complementary force. The invention also relates to a device for implementing the method. The invention applies in particular to the production of at least bistable solenoid valves. <IMAGE>
