The invention relates to a coupler to be used between an ultrasonic transducer probe and an object to be examined, in order to hold both at a prescribed mutual distance, having an acoustical lens in a region through which passes an ultrasonic signal from the ultrasonic transducer probe. The acoustical lens makes it possible to displace the focus of a lens of the probe to a desired position. Since the probe and the object to be examined are held by the coupler at a mutual distance, the picture (the image) of an observation region of the object to be examined can be positioned or reproduced on a screen in a large visual field (field of view).
