The invention relates to a constant pressure generator for metering viscous adhesives with an adhesive cylinder (28) and a displacement body (30) engaging in the adhesive cylinder (28). The adhesive can be filled into and discharged from the adhesive cylinder (28) via alternately closable inlets and outlets (22), with sliding of the displacement body (30). The adhesive chamber (24) consists of two subchambers (24', 24'') which engage telescopically one inside the other, can be slid with respect to one another with variation of the chamber volume, are open at their sides facing one another and are sealed with respect to one another on their outer surfaces. A common inlet and outlet opening (22) is provided which can be connected, via a changeover valve, alternately to an adhesive feed line (14) and a discharge line (15). One subchamber (24'') is rigidly connected to the piston (34) and the other subchamber (24') to the housing (32) of a pneumatic cylinder (26). Furthermore, a pressure sensor measuring the adhesive pressure in the adhesive chamber (24) or in the discharge line (15) and a controller, which can be acted on by the pressure measured value, is provided for correcting the discharge force according to a predetermined pressure setpoint value. <IMAGE>
