The invention relates to an apparatus for the production of yarn or twine, consisting of three rotationally symmetrical bodies which are driven in the same direction and the outer surfaces of which are arranged close to one another and which are surrounded by a guide body having a circular inner cross-section, there being contact between the inner face of the guide body and the rotationally symmetrical bodies, in which apparatus the formation of the yarn or twine takes place by twisting together the constituents of the yarn or twine between the rotationally symmetrical bodies at the centre point of the guide body, and on which apparatus is arranged a feed device for the constituents of the yarn or twine. The object on which it is based is to reduce the outlay in terms of the space requirement arising as a result of the overall height. The object is achieved in that one rotationally symmetrical body (1) is shorter than the other two rotationally symmetrical bodies (2, 3) and the feed device (14) for the constituents of the yarn or twine (15) is arranged in the region in which only the long rotationally symmetrical bodies (2, 3) take effect - Fig. 1 -. The invention achieves the technical effect that the feed device for the constituents of the yarn or twine is arranged in the height region of the rotationally symmetrical bodies. <IMAGE>
