PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of crosstalk between left and right eye information by providing the first and second shutters which face each other with a voltage controlled polarizing element and consist of a pair of polarizing filters different in angle of polarization and are different in angle of polarization of output light and opening and closing them alternately at a prescribed period. CONSTITUTION:When voltage signals S1 and S2 impressed to PLZT (lead lanthanum zirconate titanate) 6 and 7 are 'O', the angle of polarization is not changed though the light beams pass PLZT 6 and 7, and the light beams cannot pass pairs of polarizing filters 8 and 9 and polarizing filters 10 and 11 which face each other respectively with PLZT 6 and 7 between them and are different in angle of polarization by 90 deg., and shutters 12 and 13 are approximately completely closed. When signals S1 and S2 are V, double refraction occurs in PLZT 6 and 7; and if the voltage level V of voltage signals S1 and S2 is a half-wave length voltage, the light is circularly polarized at 90 deg. when passing PLZT 6 and 7 and passes analyzers 9 and 10. Thus, the voltage level of voltage signals S1 and S2 are set to 'O' and V alternately in every one-field period to open and close shutters alternately. |
