PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of the cast slab slipping and the backlash by giving periodically a torque command which gives pushing force or braking force to the cast slab, on each driving roll and giving repeatedly the torque command as shifting from the upstream roll to the downstream roll. CONSTITUTION:In case of giving pushing force to the driving roll 1A-1I, the positive torque instruction is given first from the upstream side driving roll by the torque commander 3. After this torque command is disappeared, the torque command is given to the more downstream side driving roll. As such a way, the torque instruction is repeated to shift from the upstream side to the downstream side. In case of giving braking force, too, the negative torque command is repeated as shifting from the downstream driving roll for the blaking force. A field controller 2 controls a motor for the driving roll, and a driving controller 4 controls rolling speed and driving torque. In this way, the fluctuation of the casting speed or the occurrence of slipping is prevented and the quality of cast slab is improved.
