PURPOSE:To facilitate fault diagnosis by evading the execution of system logging in detecting an access error during the head cleaning of a floppy disk device to eliminate the storage of unnecessary log information. CONSTITUTION:An access processing section 15 of a floppy disk device is the firmware and controls the accessing (read/write) of the floppy disk device 10 based on an access request block 13. In such a case, if a hardware fault takes place, logging execution designation information 14 of an access request block 13 is referenced and only when it is set, the log information is stored in a system logging area 16. In setting the system logging designation information of the access request block to the floppy disk device in such a way in the off-state at the head cleaning only, the system logging at fault occurrence is easily eliminated.
