PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized wide band optical multiplexer/demultiplexer with multiwavelengths by providing the titled equipment with a concave diffraction grating formed on the end face of a slab waveguide, a plane reflector, plural corner reflectors, and input and output waveguides respectively coupled with the slab waveguide. CONSTITUTION:Light beams coupled with the slab waveguide 20 from an input waveguide 15 are diffracted and converged by the concave diffraction grating 16, reflected by the plane reflector 17 and converged upon the corner reflector, e.g. 18-1. The beam successively reflected by two reflecting surfaces constituting the corner reflector 18-1 is made incident on the grating 16 without being reflected by the plane reflector 17, diffracted again and then coupled with the output waveguide 19-1. A beam with a different prescribed wavelength out of the beams diffracted by the grating 16 is simultaneously reflected by the plane reflector 17, made incident on the corner reflector 18-2, reflected by the reflector 18-2, again made incident on the grating 16 without being reflected by the reflector 17, diffracted again by the grating 16, and then coupled with the output waveguide 19-2. |
