PURPOSE:To easily understand the results of calculation by setting previously prefixes or suffixes to be displayed or printed and calculating the number of digits of the calculation results to add those prefixes or suffixes for storage and display. CONSTITUTION:The calculation key of an input device 3 is operated to perform calculation after finishing the setting of conditions of a display style. A main controller 1 works to display the results of calculation after the end of operations and then reads out the data to decide whether commas and digit number data of a decimal part to be stored in a display style data memory 10 should be added or not. Then a decimal point and a comma are put into the prescribed positions to obtain the digit number N of the calculating function. Then a prefix memory 11 is retrieved to check the presence/absence of storage of prefixes. If the prefixes are stored, the number (n) of these prefixes are obtained and added with the digit number N. Then a suffix memory 12 is retrieved and the number (m) of suffixes if detected are obtained and (N+n+m) is carried out to obtain the total digit number of the display data of the arithmetic results.
