In the case of a brick-laying machine, a row of building blocks (6) is lined up on a straightening table (5) and is laid in one movement. In order to simplify the methodical arrangement of the individual building blocks on the straightening table (5), the invention proposes that length markings (11), which can be adjusted by means of a programmable control unit, be arranged along the straightening table.
