PURPOSE:To record with color designating a designated picture area by providing a processing area designating means and a recording color designating means and controlling the output state of plural separated chrominance signals by a control signal obtained from the recording color designating means. CONSTITUTION:When the recording color designating means is selected, only a picture forming processing process of a single color is performed. An image is exposed based on respective color separation images on the surface of an image forming body 201 equally electroslatically charged by a electrifier 202 and thereafter exposed by an exposure lamp 203 and developed by a prescribed developing device. The number of the developing devices corresponding to the color separation images is disposed. The respective developing devices 205-207 of black, red, blue are sequentially selected synchronously with the rotation of the image forming body 201. For instance, the developing device 205 is selected, thereby, a toner sticks to an electrostatic image based on the color separation image of black and the color separation image of black is developed. The color picture developed on the image forming body 201 is transferred on a recording member P by a transferring device 211.
