PURPOSE:To reduce call loss at the busiest time when calls are increased, and to prevent abnormally concentrated calls from generating, by providing a selective multiplexing conversion part which measures a load on a trunk circuit, and thins out the digital code on the trunk circuit according to a measured load quantity, and performs the multiplex conversion of the trunk circuits of plural circuits to a multiplexing circuit of one circuit. CONSTITUTION:A telephone exchange 1 is equipped with a main switch part 11, a switch control part 12, a trunk circuit load measuring part 13, and a selective multiplexing conversion part 40. The main switch part 11 accommodates and connects a telephone circuit 20 and a trunk circuit 30, and the exchange connection of the switch is controlled by the switch control part 12. The trunk circuit load measuring part 13 is informed the connection status of the trunk circuit from the switch control part 12, and measures and outputs the load quantity. The switch control part 12 transfers a bit of switching information which instructs the number of the bit reduction value to the selective multiplexing conversion part 40, by obtaining a bit of information regarding the load quantity, through a switching information line 15. The selective multiplexing conversion part 40 selects a multiplexing conversion circuit by a bit number reduction value received as the switching information, and connects the plural circuit of the trunk circuits 30 to one circuit of multiplexing circuit 50, and also, transmits the bit of switching information including the bit reduction value from an outgoing call side to an incoming call side.
