摘要 PURPOSE:To produce a fiber reinforced light alloy member which is free from cracking and has excellent dimensional accuracy by disposing a molding of reinforcing fibers into a casting mold and subjecting a molten light alloy to pressure casting, then subjecting a solidified body to a soln. heat treatment, rough working, aging treatment and finish working at the time of producing the fiber reinforced light alloy casting. CONSTITUTION:Carbon fibers 5 are wound in the groove part 2 of the cylindrical short fiber molding 3 which consists of the Al2O3-SiO2 short fibers 1 and has the annular groove 2 in the central part to form the annular fiber molding 7. The above-mentioned fiber molding 7 is then pressed and fixed to a shoulder part 13 of a drag 9 of a casting mold for casting a piston constituted of a body 8 delineating the cylindrical outside peripheral face of the piston as well as the drag 9 and a cope 10. The molt of an Al alloy or Mg alloy is cast into such casting mold and is pressurized by the cope 10, by which said melt is cast. The casting alloy is taken out of the casting mold upon thorough solidification of the alloy and is subjected to a soln. heat treatment first, then to cutting to form a rough material for the piston; thereafter, the rough stock material is subjected to an aging treatment at >=150 deg.C in an electric furnace and finally the material is subjected to finish working by grinding, etc., to the final size.
