摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a moderate surface luster and record images with excellent image density, by setting the void ratio of an ink-transporting layer to within a specified range and setting the thickness of the layer to be not less than a specified value. CONSTITUTION:In use of a recording material, images are recorded in an ink on an ink-transporting layer provided on the recording side, and are observed from the side of an ink-holding layer provided on the observing side. The ink- transporting layer has a void ratio of 0.20-0.75 and a thickness of not less than 2mum, permits liquids to penetrate therethrough, and has the function of rapidly absorbing the ink adhered to the surface thereof and permitting the ink to penetrate therethrough. The ink-holding layer functions to absorb and hold the ink or a recording agent transferred from the ink-transporting layer. To regulate the liquid permeability of the ink-transporting layer, the layer is provided with a porous structure comprising appropriate cracks or open cells therein. An ink-absorbing effect decreases with a decrease in the number of the cracks or open cells in the ink-transporting layer. A higher void ratio causes a lowering in image quality and, further, makes it impossible to form the ink-transporting layer.
