PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of a terminal system by providing the functions of on-line and off-line printers to a printer connected to a video terminal. CONSTITUTION:A circuit adaptor TCEA 31 can recognize the UA of a unit address set at the side of a video data terminal VDT and the UA of a printer device. Therefore a printer connected to the VDT can be controlled without altering the existing data stream and the control system of the host side. Thus it is possible to use a printer which is connected to the VDT and so far used exclusively for hard copy as an on-line printer. As a result, an on-line having the same level as the VDT can be omitted. In such a way, the overall cost of a system is reduced and also, the system constitution is simplified considerably.
