The invention relates to a device which comprises four stakes and a closure cap and is intended for retaining climbing plants such as pole beans. The poles preferably consist of round aluminium of a diameter of, for example, 7 mm with a length of for example, from 2400 to 2800 mm. The top ends are angled off twice through approximately 90 DEG , with the result that a U-shaped end is obtained. As connecting means, a rubber closure cap with a central bore can be plugged onto the pole ends. The poles are pushed into the earth up to a colour marking at intervals of, for example, 50 cm. <IMAGE>
